Zimbabwe’s mining sector forecasts strong growth in 2025

The mining sector is seen as a key driver of further economic growth and industrialisation in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s mining sector is expecting a positive outlook for 2025, with confidence in continued growth. This forecast, presented by the Chamber of Mines at the Mine Entra conference in Bulawayo, predicts a rise in mineral exports from US$5.5 billion in 2024 to US$6 billion in 2025. This is reported by
ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.

The sector is also expected to see a 3 per cent increase in employment and an average 7 per cent growth in mineral production, with capacity utilisation reaching 90 per cent from 84 per cent in 2024.

However, mining executives anticipate constraints in electricity supply due to the increased mining activity. Demand is expected to rise from the current 600 MW to 700 MW as mining operations expand.

Capital expenditure in the sector is projected to reach US$600 million in 2025, as mining companies aim to capitalise on stronger commodity prices in the global market.
