The country is embarking on the digitalisation of business

Postal and Courier Services as well as the Media and Broadcasting Services have been tasked with developing to facilitate conducting business in the digital sphere. This is reported by
ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.

An introductory workshop for the Joint Portfolio Committees on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Post and Courier Services, and Media and Broadcasting was held in Masvingo.

Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda claimed at the event that the two committees should support the respective ministries in ensuring that they explore the use of artificial intelligence to drive the country’s economy.

Zimbabwe is tasked with utilising artificial intelligence for the benefit of national development. Legislation that facilitates the ease of conducting business in the digital era and upholds this aim is yet to be required.

At the policy level, the Zimbabwe Media Commission Amendment Bill and the Broadcasting Services Amendment Bill are going through internal legal processes. In order to enhance the functioning of the media industry, the ministry is also developing a media policy. The goal of all these initiatives is to create a workplace that is conducive to media coverage.
