Vladimir Putin congratulates Narendra Modi on success of Bharatiya Janata Party in parliamentary elections
The two sides agreed to develop co-operation
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Narendra Modi on the success of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the concluded general parliamentary elections.
He noted that the results of the vote reflect support for the course pursued by the Indian leadership, recognition of the results achieved in the socio-economic development of the country and strengthening of its international prestige.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the current level of the particularly privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India, which is expected to further expand in all directions. The politicians agreed to continue constructive personal interaction.
Earlier it became known that the general parliamentary elections in India was won by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Indian People’s Party (Bharatiya Janata Party), whose leader is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India’s general polling began on 19 April and was
held in seven phases. According to Rajiv Kumar, head of the Central Election Commission, 642 million people took part in it.
