The grand celebration was attended by former and present ISRO officers, directors of various ISRO centres, former directors of VSSC, veterans who served in the early years and senior leaders.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, an exhibition showcasing ISRO’s Past, Present and Future programmes was organised. The 2,452nd launch of the probe rocket added to the spectacle of the event. Jitendra Singh unveiled a diamond jubilee monument near the launch control centre, symbolising six decades of India’s achievements in space exploration.

Stressing the importance of education, the Indian Space Research Organisation invited 60 students from various schools of Thiruvananthapuram district for an interactive session with Mr. Somanath. In addition, as part of the outreach initiative, installations with scale models of launch vehicles were placed at three locations in the city.

During an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of India’s space odyssey, Somanath announced that diamond jubilee celebrations will be held at various ISRO centres in the coming months, culminating in National Space Day on August 23. All these events are meant to not only commemorate ISRO’s illustrious history but also inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers to contribute to India’s further development in space exploration.
