Urban planning experts in India analyse the design of futuristic cities

More than 800 international experts attended the event

The event was attended by city leaders, professionals, academicians, industry experts and researchers who discussed initiatives and experiences from both India and around the world to create a roadmap for improving the quality of life, a government agency said. This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the organisation, the summit provided a platform for cities to present their unique initiatives and explore potential areas of future collaboration ahead of the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled in January next year.

In the inaugural session, Kaushal Kishore, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, endorsed Gujarat as the venue for the event as he considers it a model of urban development towards inclusive and sustainable urbanisation.

Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, highlighted projects such as ‘gift city’ and ‘dream city’, which he described as epitomising Gujarat’s commitment to developing futuristic cities based on international examples of how new human settlements are conceived, perceived and designed.

Raj Kumar, Chief Secretary to Government of Gujarat, highlighted that about 48 per cent of Gujarat is currently urbanised and is expected to grow by over 60 per cent by 2035.

He also said that Gujarat has made great strides in adopting sustainable models through strategic urban planning and design, waste management and creation of green spaces.
