UAE government body launches initiatives in line with UN development goals
Many initiatives aim to reduce food loss and waste
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing food loss and waste in the emirate.
This is part of a strategy that was launched last year and includes the awareness campaign “Together Blessings Last”. The strategy aims to encourage positive behaviour to reduce food loss and waste. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
ADAFSA also works with other organisations and partners to ensure safe disposal of infected animals and has developed initiatives to improve food production and consumption. In the livestock sector, programmes such as Fodder Market and Innovative Solution for Broiler Feeding initiative have been launched to reduce feed wastage and optimise resource use.
Workshops and training programmes for farmers to improve post-harvest handling are also being conducted and more than 1,500 farms have been awarded Good Agricultural Practices certificates.
All this is aimed at achieving the objectives of the national food security strategy and reducing food losses and waste.
