Tunisia discusses integrated computer applications for agricultural processes

The joint ministerial working session is devoted to the supply of chemical fertilisers for a smooth agricultural season

The Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Chiboub, Minister of Trade and Export Development, Kalthuom Ben Rejeb, as well as Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Abdel Moneem Belaati, attended a joint ministerial workshop. This is reported by
Tunis Afrique Presse, a partner of TV BRICS.

The need to provide the necessary quantity of different types of fertilisers in line with a planned timetable that takes into consideration the unique characteristics of each season was emphasised during a session.

The ministers stressed the importance of digitalisation in the field of agriculture. The introduction of an integrated computer application is necessary to digitise and control the distribution channels of these products in order to monitor the supply of this material and combat the phenomena of monopolies and price manipulation.

The aim of the digitalisation project in the field of agriculture is to protect the interests of farmers and support production systems, especially in light of the challenges associated with climate change.

According to the Tunisian Ministry of Industry, the main focus was on the final preparation and procedures related to the smooth running of the 2024–2025 agricultural campaign through the supply of chemical fertilisers for agricultural use and the organisation of their distribution channels.
