The World Youth Festival to bring together up to 20,000 participants
The event will bring together young leaders from more than 180 countries
The Sirius federal territory in the Krasnodar region will host the World Youth Festival from 1 to 7 March, which is estimated to bring together up to 20,000 participants from more than 180 countries. The event will take place under a decree from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The festival is expected to bring together young leaders from various fields: volunteering, business, education, media, culture and others. Sochi airport is preparing to serve more than 300,000 passengers during the festival. The regional programme of the World Youth Festival is scheduled for March 10-17, and its participants will visit 30 Russian cities.
The festival’s organising committee includes Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, Head of the Ministry of Sport Oleg Matitsyn, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Kirienko and others.
A special “City of Youth of the World” has been created for the event in the Olympic Park on the territory of “Sirius”, the centre of which will be Medal Square. Five pavilions will be erected there: “Moscow”, “Belgorod”, “Nizhny Novgorod”, “The Yamal-Nenets Autunomous Area” and “Kazan”. They will host educational and cultural events. To get to the “City of World Youth”, guests will have to pass the “WFM International Airport”.
Festival guests will be able to see performances by the best creative teams, take part in thematic discussions and masterclasses, excursions, trainings, exhibitions and panel sessions. The evening programme of the event includes concerts, talk shows and film screenings. 5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia will be involved in organising and conducting the festival.
