National Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (Impa) has been accredited as an institution of higher education
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva emphasised the importance of investing in quality public education.
Lula da Silva also said that investing in education should not be seen as an expense. “Education is not an expense, it is an investment,” he said. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
He cited the example of Asian countries that have invested in the quality of education and called for more emphasis on subjects such as maths.
