The Orpheus Radio Symphony Orchestra will present the programme “Symphojaz: Made in Russia” at the House of Music
Among the guests of honor are representatives of the diplomatic missions of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Cuba and Argentina
On Monday, 30 October, 19 o’clock at the Moscow International House of Music, the Orpheus Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of artistic director and Principal conductor Sergey Kondrashev and Pyotr Vostokov’s Big Jazz Orchestra will present the programme “Symphojazz: Made in Russia”.
TV BRICS International Media Network is the media partner of the event and together with the Russian State Music TV and Radio Centre “Orpheus” will organise a reception for the first persons of the embassies of the BRICS countries, Latin America and Africa in honour of the concert.
Among the guests of honour are representatives of diplomatic missions of nine countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Cuba and Argentina.
The concert “Symphojazz: Made in Russia” will be held as part of the III International Music Festival “Energy of Discoveries”. The main task of the festival is to introduce listeners to the work of Russian composers whose names and musical heritage have been forgotten or lost for various reasons. All the scores were discovered and restored by the staff of the Orpheus TV and Radio Centre.
The 2023 festival programme includes works by Soviet jazz pioneers Alexander Varlamov and Alexander Tsfasman, outstanding Russian pianist and composer Nikolai Kapustin, Soviet jazz conductor, Honoured Art Worker of the Russian Federation Vadim Ludvikovsky, member of the USSR Composers’ Union Nikolai Minkh, one of the most popular jazz artists in the USSR Eddie Rosner and Soviet pop conductor and composer Viktor Knushevitsky.
The compositions will be performed by two brilliant ensembles – the Orpheus Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of artistic director and chief conductor Sergey Kondrashev and Pyotr Vostokov’s Big Jazz Orchestra.
The special guest of the evening was the legendary musician, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, Soviet and Russian composer Anatoly Kalvarsky.
The Orpheus Radio Orchestra was established in 1997. It is rightly considered the successor of the best traditions of the symphony orchestras of Gosteleradio of the USSR. The orchestra regularly performs at the capital’s main concert venues.
TV BRICS and Radio Orpheus have been co-operating since 2022. The main goal of the partnership is to create a positive image of Russia among the national audiences of the BRICS countries and popularise Russian academic music.
