The first World Forest Industry Conference was held in late November in Nanning

Thirty contracts totalling more than $5bn were signed at the event

The first World Forest Industry Conference was held in China’s Nanning County. The event, titled “Green Forest Industry a promising area of cooperation”, aims to create a professional platform for communication and cooperation in the forestry sector. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The event, organised by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Guangxi Regional Government, attracted more than five thousand participants, including representatives of well-known domestic and international companies involved in forestry, paper production and forest industry equipment. The conference also attracted the interest of experts, academics and buyers from all over the world.

Thirty contracts totalling more than 40 billion yuan (about US$5.6 billion) were signed at the event.

The signed projects cover various fields including bamboo and wood flooring, smart furniture, flavouring and essence production, biomass energy, forest carbon sequestration and forestry finance.

China has become the fastest growing and largest source of forest resources in the world.

In 2022, the total output of China’s forest industry reached 9.07 trillion yuan (1.268 trillion U.S. dollars), and the import and export volume of forest products exceeded 190 billion U.S. dollars, making China the world’s leading country in the production, trade and consumption of forest products.
