The first meeting of Iran-India working group on agriculture was held in New Delhi. During the meeting, officials of the agriculture ministries of the two countries emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation in this field. This is reported by

“At the event, officials of the relevant departments of the two states discussed enhanced co-operation in the field of import and export of agricultural products,” the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi said in a statement.

Relations between India and Iran go back several centuries. The countries shared a common border until 1947 and have a number of commonalities in language, culture and traditions, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

Iran and India share close trade, energy, cultural and people-to-people ties, the foreign ministry said.

The previous day, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian received his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Tehran.

The two leaders discussed the expansion of bilateral and multilateral ties within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS.
