Tehran hosts 19th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of Asia Cooperation Dialogue Forum

The event resulted in the adoption of the 3 important documents: Tehran Declaration, Rules and Procedures of the ACD, and Guiding Principles for the Functioning of the ACD Secretariat

Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says the holding of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Forum Ministerial Meeting showed Iran’s determination to strengthen multilateralism. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

“Holding this meeting at this point shows Iran’s determination to use all opportunities to strengthen multilateralism, cooperation and convergence in Asia,” Bagheri Kani added.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy of Iran Mehdi Safari said ACD provides a good platform for member states to enhance cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS. 41 delegations from over 30 countries attended the ACD forum.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and his Indian counterpart Dammu Ravi discussed co-operation within the BRICS and SCO.

“The parties exchanged views on topical issues of Russian-Indian cooperation, including in the economic and transport areas,” the Russian diplomatic department pointed out.

The sides reaffirmed their commitment to further development of bilateral political dialogue.

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) was established in June 2002 at the initiative of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Thirty-five States are participating in the Dialogue.
