Sustainable development to be main theme of opening ceremony of Gulf Youth Games in UAE

The event will take place in mid-April

Dubai Opera is preparing to host the opening ceremony of the first Gulf Youth Games, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates from 16 April to 2 May. The event will be attended by 1,500 people. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS .

One of the key themes of the 40-minute ceremony will be sustainability. During the speeches, eco-friendly and recycled materials and LED lighting will be used.

“The themes of the opening ceremony were chosen to reflect the values and goals of the event. The sustainability theme will highlight the importance of using sustainable materials,” said Abdulaziz Al-Sulaiman, a member of the UAE National Olympic Committee’s board of directors. He stressed that in this way the organisers of the event continue the line of the country’s authorities with their commitment to sustainable development, as exemplified by the holding of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in Dubai last year.

The Gulf Youth Games will be held under the slogan “Our Gulf is One. Our Youth is Promising.” Several thousand male and female athletes will compete in 25 individual and team sports.
