South-West State Univesity

Six decades ago, in 1964, was found a university that became a symbol of education, innovation and progress – Kursk Polytechnic Institute. In the year of its opening, the university greeted its first 150 students. That time the Institute had only two majors: mechanical engineering and chemical fiber technology.

Gradually, the university has been developing, new majors were being opened. And it became clear that the Kursk Polytechnic university needed expansion. In 1971, the construction of the main building with full infrastructure was completed, and in the early 90s, recruitment for two major areas – legal and economic – began.

In 1994, a new era of the Institute development began, and Kursk Polytech university was renamed Kursk State Technical University. And in 2010, it became Southwest State University.

Nowadays the University is actively developing, cooperating with leading educational and research centers both in Russia and abroad. It aims to provide students with a high-quality education and prepare them for a successful career in the modern world.
