South African programme encourages physical activity and healthy longevity

The initiative is designed for people over 60 years of age

The programme was launched as part of Tshwane District Health Services’ efforts to promote healthy lifestyles among older people.

Its participants say the initiative has yielded positive results. This is reported by
Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.

“I am now able to walk long distances, my blood pressure is also well in control. Since joining this programme, I am active and fit,” said programme participant Priscilla Chana.

Chana also noted that while the morning exercise classes were designed to help seniors keep fit, they also help them socialise and keep their minds active.

The programme is for people over 60 years old and aims to improve their health, promote active lifestyles, prevent and reduce age-related diseases.
