South African authorities ask citizens to express their point of view on the national budgeting policy

The country’s Finance Minister will deliver a speech on the national budget in February this year

South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has given the public the opportunity to express their point of view on the formation of the national budget.

According to a statement from the finance ministry, the budgetary allocations are aimed at striking a balance between growing the economy and supporting the vulnerable in a resource-constrained environment.

Godongwana is due to deliver his national budget speech in February this year. Accordingly, the deadline for citizens to submit suggestions is 11 February.

According to the statement, people can share their opinions on municipal finances, public spending priorities and ways to address the national budget deficit, as well as ways to stabilise the finances of public institutions and tax revenues.

The ministry said that citizens can submit their proposals through the National Treasury website. This is reported by
