The African National Congress (ANC) in Parliament says it is looking forward to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) later this week which will focus on the key priorities such as strengthening water and energy supply, as set out by the party that leads the Government of National Unity (GNU).
Ramaphosa will deliver his SONA address to a joint sitting of Parliament on Thursday evening.
It will be the first time he delivers the SONA as the head of the GNU, that came into power following the results of the May elections last year.
The ANC’s convenor of the Communication subcommittee, Khusela Diko says the SONA will be a representation of what the people want.
“Earlier this year, President Ramaphosa outlined during the ANC January 8 statement, and by implication the government that it leads, key priorities for the country including a focus on local government, fixing local government, including ensuring the security of water and energy supply as well as strengthening the fight against crime and corruption and building safer communities. key problems include creating jobs.”
