Media monitoring platform, Acumen Media says about 500 000 or more than 70% of social media posts about the late former Minister Pravin Gordhan are negative.
Social media posts about Gordhan began at the time of his hospitalisation, with most of them blaming him for the collapse of state-owned enterprises.
Acumen Media Managing Director Tonya Khoury says only around 7% of the posts are positive.
Khoury says, “For the past seven days leading up to Pravin’s hospitalisation and his subsequent passing, the obituaries that have come through since then and the preparations for the funeral, those results on their own are just under 100k, and when you look at the engagements, it’s about 492k, and we’re getting all sorts of media coming through.” – Reporting by Tashlan Naidoo and Hoosen Ebrahim.
