Saudi Arabia has launched a large-scale archaeological project called Al-Yamamah, which aims to explore the historical heritage of Riyadh and its surroundings. This is reported by
Arab News.

Over the next five years (from 2024 to 2028), archaeologists will conduct extensive research and excavations in different areas of the capital and its surroundings. 

The project aims to create a detailed map of Riyadh’s archaeological sites and preserve its cultural heritage.

The project will use modern technologies such as geographic information systems, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), 3D modelling, and artificial intelligence. 

The Al-Yamamah project involves collaboration with historians, archaeologists, and researchers from Saudi Arabia and other countries, which will provide valuable insights into Riyadh’s past and contribute to the preservation of its cultural heritage.
