The number of participants in Saudi Arabia’s energy industry with an energy efficiency licence has reached 55 by the end of 2023, a positive trend,
Arab News reported, citing Nasser Al-Ghamdi, CEO of the Saudi Energy Efficiency Centre.

He recalled that the Kingdom aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to zero by 2060. Al-Ghamdi stressed that 26 universities across the country have included energy efficiency topics and courses in their curricula.

Al-Ghamdi said the government is keen to create the necessary ecosystem for suppliers and their beneficiaries in this “promising market”. He added that licensing is being introduced for those interested in investing in this field.

The centre has also launched a pilot project to improve energy efficiency of commercial organisations, which consume about 16 per cent of the energy generated in the country. Business owners are being informed of opportunities that will help them save money while reducing the percentage of energy they use.
