The two lines on the piece, which was discovered in the town of Alqan, were inscribed in early Arabic and Thamudic script. This is reported by

The inscriptions’ style indicates that the piece was created in the fifth century.

The discovery, according to the Saudi Heritage Commission, revealed the historical cohabitation of Early Arabic and Thamudic and provided insight into the development of prehistoric writing systems on the Arabian Peninsula.

It is consistent with the commission’s continuous efforts to research, record, conserve, and promote archaeological sites throughout the Kingdom and constitutes a noteworthy contribution to its collection of ancient Arabic inscriptions and texts.
