Russian journalist wins Chinese Government Friendship Award

Every year thousands of specialists from different countries apply for this award

The House of People’s Assemblies in Beijing hosted a ceremony of awarding the winners of the “Friendship Award”. It is awarded to foreign specialists who have made significant contributions to China’s economic and social progress. “Friendship Award” was established back in the 1950s.

Every year, thousands of specialists from countries closely cooperating with China apply for this award. This year, 50 experts from 20 countries in Europe, America and Asia became laureates of the award.

It should be noted that the Russian Mikhail Morozov became the first journalist working in the newspaper, who was honoured with the award of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. Earlier its winners were TV journalist Konstantin Shchepin, who has been working in Beijing for many years, and media manager Oleg Dobrodeyev.

“We do have many common interests, and our co-operation in the international arena contributes to stability in the world. <…> China has achieved outstanding results in development, and we should carefully study this experience and talk about it,” Mikhail Morozov said.

Li Qiang, State Council of the People’s Republic of China, personally handed over the certificate of honour to the journalist. The Chinese government decided to award Morozov the “Friendship Award” “for his outstanding contribution to the development of Sino-Russian relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic co-operation, entering a new era”.

The journalist thanked Li Qiang for the appreciation of his work and promised to continue working for the benefit of the two countries. This is reported by the newspaper
“Trud”.
