Russia to host final of KARDO International Street Culture and Sports Award

For the duration of the competition, Stavropol will become an international centre of contemporary street art

From 22 to 25 August, Stavropol will host the final of the VII International Street Culture and Sports Award “KARDO”. TV BRICS acts as an international media partner of the event.

“About 2.5 thousand people from our country, near and far abroad will come to us in Stavropol. Contestants from 46 countries have already confirmed their presence,” said Vladimir Vladimirov, Governor of the Stavropol Territory.

Registration of participants is still underway. It is expected that up to 4 thousand athletes and artists from 110 countries will apply. In particular, qualifying stages were held in Argentina, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

This year’s awards will be given in 11 types of modern street culture and sports. Masters of such trends as vorkout, parkour, graffiti, hip-hop, skateboarding, BMX and stunt scooter will demonstrate their talents.

In addition to the works of finalists, contests, selections and competitions, visitors to “KARDO” will be able to attend concerts of famous performers, lectures by opinion leaders and go on excursions around Stavropol. In total, the programme includes more than 20 events.

The final of the award will become an international platform of dialogue. “KARDO” is a point of tourism attraction for the countries hosting such events, says Valentin Rabotenko, chairman of the all-Russian organisation “Streets of Russia”.

“KARDO” competition has been held since 2018 in Russia. It is the first and only award in the world, which is given for the contribution to the development of street culture and sports. The event was created to support talents in this field and create social lifts for young people.

The event is organised by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation “Russia – Land of Opportunities”, the Government of the Stavropol Territory, and the all-Russian organisation “Streets of Russia”. Support is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) and Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
