Russia to chair meeting of SCO education ministers in Moscow

Heads of delegations will discuss national priorities in the issue of ensuring affordable education

On 18 April, Moscow will host the opening of the Eighth Meeting of Education Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, which this year is chaired by Russia.

Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov, Deputy Minister of Education Denis Gribov, Deputy Secretary General of the SCO Nurana Niyazalieva, as well as heads of delegations of the SCO member states will make welcoming speeches at the meeting. Simultaneous interpretation is envisaged. This is reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia

The meeting will be the first such high-level event on education within the SCO for the last 5 years. It will be attended by the heads of specialised agencies of the SCO member states and observer countries (ministers and deputy ministers): India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, India, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. The media will have the opportunity to record comments by representatives of the SCO member states.

At the meeting, the heads of delegations will present national priorities in ensuring quality and accessible education and discuss the development of co-operation in this area. Special attention will be paid to the functioning of the key educational project on the organisation’s platform – University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (network university).
