Russia seeks to organise direct flights from the North Caucasus to Iran

He also pointed to the existing airlines between Moscow and Tehran

Director of the Department for Development of Bilateral Cooperation at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development Pavel Kalmychek, noted that the agreement to abolish visa regime for group travel with Iran will come into force from July 2024, said that Russia at the federal level seeks to organise direct flights from the North Caucasus to Iran.

Pavel Kalmychek made these remarks at a specialised meeting on Iran-Russia relations. This is reported by
IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

This Russian official recalled, “after the visit of the first group of Iranian tourists without visas under a joint agreement to the North Caucasus in 2023, meetings were held to organise direct flights from this region of Russia to Iran, and now this issue is being considered at the federal level.”

For his part, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali emphasised that various companies of both countries can separately work on the plan to set up this direct flight, and that Tehran prioritises the establishment of the direct flight from Kazan to Iran.
