Rise Mzansi, ActionSA and allies discuss election coalition

Political newcomers Rise Mzansi, ActionSA, Bosa, and the Good Party are exploring the possibility of greater cooperation ahead of future elections to challenge South Africa’s dominant political forces.

Party leaders have confirmed informal talks about parliamentary collaboration, to strengthen their collective influence. The parties currently hold 14 parliamentary seats combined.

Gugu Ndima, national spokesperson for Rise Mzansi says, “The South African electorate this year imposed a reconfiguration of politics. We no longer have a majority party, leading to the formation of a Government of National Unity (GNU). This requires effective collaboration among political parties for coalitions to succeed. These informal discussions are necessary, as these are all legitimate organizations that have been elected by the people and have representation in Parliament and the Legislature.”

Formal talks on this potential cooperation are expected to begin early next year.
