Ramaphosa to travel to Russia for BRICS summit

President Cyril Ramaphosa will today travel to Russia to attend a BRICS summit.

Ramaphosa and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, will also hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit.

This will be the first BRICS summit since the expansion of the bloc.

The group now covers 43% of the world’s population and 27% of the global GDP.

Putin will use the summit to promote Russia.

He has challenged members of BRICS to look at using national currencies when trading with each other.
