Ramaphosa deliver keynote speech at second clean hydrogen summit

The forum is designed to highlight South Africa’s exceptional potential as a large-scale clean hydrogen production centre

On Monday 16 October, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the keynote address at the second South Africa Green Hydrogen Summit (SAGHS), which takes place in Cape Town, Western Cape, on 16-17 October.

The first SAGHS summit, held in 2022, confirmed South Africa as one of the most attractive investment destinations and a global leader in green energy.

The second forum is designed to highlight South Africa’s exceptional potential as a large-scale, low-cost, world-class centre for early-stage green hydrogen production, as well as a value chain investment destination.

Green hydrogen and associated renewable energy generation has the potential to support the expansion of transmission infrastructure to create additional renewable energy generation capacity and support the local development of the industry.

This makes green hydrogen a key component of South Africa’s future energy mix, according to the South African government’s official website.
