Ramaphosa calls for economic growth, job creation in Mpumalanga

President Cyril Ramaphosa says inclusive economic growth and job creation must take centre stage in Mpumalanga.

Ramaphosa is meeting with the Mpumalanga provincial executive to address key challenges affecting the province, which include dilapidated road infrastructure, water challenges and the high unemployment rate.

He says Mpumalanga’s economy also needs to grow at a fast rate so that its people can benefit from it.

“We know that the province faces enormous challenges. The unemployment rate in Mpumalanga is higher than the national average. And we know that nearly half of all young people in the province are unemployed and more than half the population live below the lower bound of the poverty line,” adds the President.
