Ramaphosa awards SA’s highest honour to Angola’s President Lourenco

President Cyril Ramaphosa has conferred the Order of South Africa on Angolan President President Joao Lourenco.
The National Orders are the highest Awards that a country through its President bestows on its citizens and eminent foreign nationals.

Ramaphosa says Angola provided support to the liberation movements in South Africa during South Africa’s struggle for freedom and democracy.

After the ceremony, South Africa and Angola signed a Memorandum of Understanding on among others Roads, Education and Training.

The two Heads of State renewed their commitment to work closely to broaden and sustain the two nations’ bilateral relationship in a manner that enhances strategic cooperation and partnership for mutual benefit.

President Lourenco responded by saying that Luanda and Pretoria should engage in a bi-national commission next year.

The leaders recognise the need for the two countries to create an enabling business environment in both countries.
