Participants of Annual Investment Congress in UAE speak about development of co-operation between BRICS countries
The forum in Abu Dhabi brought together more than 100 ministers and other government officials
More than 100 ministers, mayors and central bank governors have arrived in Abu Dhabi (UAE) to participate in the 3rd Annual Investment Congress (AIM Congress 2024), which runs from 7 to 9 May 2024. They will take part in 27 joint events. TV BRICS is the media partner of the congress.
The forum is organised with the support of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. The theme of the congress is “Adapting to a Shifting Investment Landscape: Harnessing New Potential for Global Economic Development”.
TV BRICS International Project Manager Alexandra Burman moderated one of the sessions, “BRICS+ Business Forum”, which discussed the changing global economic landscape. Among the participants were Sergey Katyrin (Russia), President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the BRICS Business Council, Mikhail Makarov (Russia), Director of the International Relations Office of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects, Roman Shaikhutdinov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Dawood Al Shezawi, President of AIM Congress, and others.
“It is obvious that the world is changing. It is business that should give impetus to the development of trade, economic and investment co-operation within BRICS. Today we heard that the leading representatives of business circles of our countries are ready to work in this direction, and I am sure – success on this path is inevitable. After all, we are facing opportunities for business cooperation in a wide range of areas, including high technologies, digital economy, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, agriculture, staff development, infrastructure and others”

Vladimir Platonov, President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commented on the development of co-operation between BRICS entrepreneurs.
“It is important that this forum hosts BRICS events. Each entrepreneur finds for himself what he is interested in. The task of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other structures is to create conditions for everyone to easily get the contacts they need. Everything necessary is being done to increase the number of such enquiries in the BRICS countries,” Platonov explained.
Roman Shaikhutdinov, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan, spoke about the activities of the republic’s authorities at multilateral platforms.
“Tatarstan has been a regular participant of the AIM Congress forum for many years. And the head of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov represents the country in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on behalf of the Russian leadership. At this forum, our delegation met with representatives of many companies and startups from BRICS countries. Here, in the Emirates, a hub has actually formed. This is a neutral territory where many countries interact on various issues. This is, of course, cooperation related to attracting investments,” Shaikhutdinov said.
According to him, Tatarstan’s co-operation with BRICS partners is still in its infancy. Everything that is happening now is a “historic moment”.
In 2024, the United Arab Emirates officially joined BRICS, and the first media partner from the UAE, Emirates News Agency (WAM), joined the co-operation with the TV BRICS International Media Network.
