Lavrov states that main event of bilateral relations between China and Russia in 2024 to be Putin’s visit to Asian country

China’s leader in turn will come to the BRICS summit in Kazan

Chinese President Xi Jinping will come to the October summit of BRICS heads of state in Kazan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Subjects of the Russian Federation under the ministry. The foreign minister noted that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with China. This is reported by the official
website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“The main event of bilateral relations this year will be the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the People’s Republic of China. In October, we are expecting the Chinese head of state to attend the XVI BRICS summit in Kazan”

The minister noted that the development of interregional co-operation between Russia and China is now on the agenda. According to the results of 2023, the trade turnover of the Republic of Tatarstan with the Asian country exceeded US$2 billion. According to the results of the first half of last year, the figure increased by 2.3 times to US$1.6 billion compared to the same period the year before.

Earlier Lavrov had already announced Lavrov talks between the leaders of Russia and China on the margins of the SCO and BRICS summits.
