Narendra Modi meets Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister to strengthen business relations

Mumbai saw a high-profile meeting as Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar gathered with representatives of Russian and Indian businesses at the India-Russia Business Forum. This is reported by

Addressing attendees, Manturov emphasised the resilience and growth of the economic partnership between Russia and India, highlighting the record-high trade turnover achieved last year between the two countries and expressing confidence in surpassing this milestone in 2024.
The officials discussed Indian and Russian technological sovereignty programmes that have fostered favourable conditions for joint ventures, accelerated production, and removed infrastructure barriers.
Later that day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with First Deputy Prime Minister Manturov, addressing the joint progress made by Russian and Indian teams following bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Modi noted the ongoing collaboration as part of the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, highlighting a shared vision for strengthened trade, energy, and industrial ties.
The leaders also reviewed the outcomes of discussions held at the recent BRICS Summit in Kazan, where Prime Minister Modi and President Putin exchanged views on deepening cooperation. The two sides focused on implementing agreements made at the summit, including expanded trade, investment, and energy cooperation.
