Ethiopia has launched a massive Five Million Ethiopian Coders programme aimed at developing digital skills among the younger generation. This is reported by
ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology, more than 95,000 young people across the country are already being trained in programming under the project, which was launched by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and is being implemented in partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The programme aims to prepare young people to work in the digital economy, both in Ethiopia and abroad.
The Ethiopian government promises to provide the necessary support to all participants in the programme, including access to electricity and the internet.
The training will be conducted over a period of 3 years, and each regional and city administration has been allocated a quota of training that they can utilise.
