Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation: The growing number of subscribers reflects the success of the scheme

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) reported that as of November 15, 2023, over 6.6 million individuals have signed up for the Unemployment Insurance Scheme

This surge in enrollment is seen as a testament to the effectiveness of the program and the widespread knowledge among potential beneficiaries. The scheme offers financial assistance to both UAE nationals and residents who have lost their primary source of income, with benefits kicking in within three months of unemployment. The ministry is urging all eligible individuals to take advantage of this opportunity and register for the program. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
Temporary unemployed individuals will receive compensation until they find new employment, subject to certain conditions. For instance, the monthly compensation will be 60% of the employee’s salary, up to a maximum of Dh20,000 (5445 US dollars) per month.
The scheme covers all employees, excluding investors, company owners, domestic workers, part-time workers, individuals under the age of 18, and pensioners receiving old age pensions. To be eligible for the scheme, an employee must have been insured for at least 12 consecutive months. Additionally, the scheme does not apply to those terminated for disciplinary reasons.
Engaging in fraudulent activities, such as falsely claiming compensation based on a dismissal from a non-existent company, will result in penalties. Compensation ceases once an individual obtains new employment.

Those seeking insurance benefits must have legal residency status in the UAE.
