The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, has warned against reducing the organisation to an individual. His comments come as the party’s former national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been a no-show at the EFF national people assembly.
The outgoing leadership of the EFF briefed the media on the opening of the second day of the Party’s Third NPA at the Johannesburg Expo centre in Gauteng today.
In early November speculation was rife on the banning of EFF MP and former spokesperson, Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi from the election conference. When asked on Ndlozi’s absence, Malema said the EFF would no longer comment on the matter, stating that the organization is more than a single individual.
“Why concern about one person over so many people who are here? As if he is the conference. As if he’s not here, the conference will not happen. It’s going to happen. It’s happening without him. He’s not here. I heard people say he’s here, he’s doing this. He’s not here. He’s not here. And it’s not our interest to entertain such nonsense. It’s not our interest. We’re dealing with political issues here, not egoism, not people who think they are bigger than this organization.”

Malema also spared no punches against Umkhonto weSizwe and its leader Jacob Zuma. Zuma, whose party has seen the likes of former EFF top officials join it, has endorsed black consciousness and unity.
However, Malema says that there is nothing black conscious about the MKParty.
“To be black conscious is not a mere say. It is what you do. It is your consciousness, it is your alignment it is what kind of decisions you are for. You can’t be black conscious and kill people in Marikana. They were not fighting, they left the building of their employer and went to stay on the mountain. And a black conscious leader takes guns and goes and shoots them at the mountain.”
While party delegates are awaiting the election of the EFF’s top officials, Malema has also made it clear that only leaders with a post matric qualification will be elected. He says that the organisation wants to produce a society of educated people and leaders who lead by example.
“A post matric does not necessarily mean matric but it means any other thing that is equivalent to matric and beyond. We are not going to have illiterate leaders. Zuma should’ve actually been a good example of why we don’t need such things. So we must look at Zuma and say something like this must never happen again and the ANC’s is about to commit a similar mistake because it looks like they want Mbalula.”
