Lavrov to lead Russian delegation to the 78th United Nations General Assembly

The corresponding order of the Russian President was published on Friday on the official Internet portal of legal information

According to this document, the composition of the delegation of the Russian Federation to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly was approved, including the following members: Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, who is also a permanent member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and head of the delegation; Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia; Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs; Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN; Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia and Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

The 78th session of the UN General Assembly will be chaired by Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago. The work will begin on 5 September 2023. The Russian Foreign Ministry has posted on its website a document “On Russia’s position at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly”, which sets out key theses on the most pressing issues on the world agenda.
