JSC recommends Magistrate J.T. Ngobeni for Judge appointment

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has concluded its October leg of interviews to fill vacancies in various superior courts across the country.

Two candidates were before the Commission on Monday to fill one vacancy in the Limpopo Division of the High Court and two candidates were vying for the position of Deputy Judge President of the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court.

Following two grueling weeks of interviews for vacancies in the high courts across the nation, Wednesday marked the final day and sought to fill vacancies in both Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

After an overall positive interview and deliberation, Regional Magistrate J.T Ngobeni managed to secure support for the position in the Limpopo High Court.

JSC Commissioner Adv Sesi Baloyi says, “Of the two candidates that were interviewed the JSC had resolved to advise the President to appoint Regional Magistrate J.T Ngobeni, for the position of Judge in that Division.”

The final business of the day was deliberating on who would win the bid for the position of Deputy Judge President in Mpumalanga.

” For Mpumalanga, the JSC was interviewing for the position of Deputy Judge President. We interviewed two candidates and of the two candidates it was resolved to advise the president to appoint judge T.V Ratshibvumo for Deputy Judge President of that Division.”

The JSC will advise President Cyril Ramaphosa on their recommendations for the vacancies in the High Court.

If  Regional Magistrate J.T Ngobeni is to be accepted by the President she will become the first female High Court Judge in that court.
