Jameh Mosque of Saveh is inscribed on UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites
Hossein Mahmoudi, an expert in the field, noted the successful inscription of Ebrahimabad Aqueduct and Bagh-e Sheikh сaravanserai on the World Heritage List, which shows significant progress in the province. This is reported by
Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
He spoke about the recent visit of Iranian mosque registration team to Saveh Jameh Mosque. Following the visit, a meeting was held to outline the necessary steps to secure worldwide recognition for the historic site.
The next important step will be the expected visit to Saveh by a team of UNESCO experts tasked with evaluating the dossier submitted for the world recognition of the mosque. Success in this endeavour will mark the third heritage site in the province to be inscribed on the World Heritage List.
Mahmoudi emphasised the historical richness of the Jameh Mosque, noting the ongoing efforts to prepare its nomination to the prestigious list and highlighting its architectural significance.
Cultural heritage experts suggest that the mosque most likely stands on the foundations of an earlier structure, hinting at remnants of ancient materials and architectural styles.
