It’s all systems go for EFF’s National People’s Assembly: Dlamini

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini says it’s all systems go for the party’s third elective conference, formally termed the National People’s Assembly.

The Assembly comes at a critical juncture for the EFF, as the party has experienced internal challenges.

Dlamini says the red berets are ready to kick off the conference, with Commander in Chief Julius Malema expected to deliver the party’s political report.

Dlamini says the EFF’s conference open sessions will be live-streamed. Malema is widely expected to secure a third term as the party’s leader, facing little to no opposition.

Earlier, EFF Treasurer General Omphile Maotwe said the registration of delegates for the party’s national elective conference is proceeding steadily. Maotwe said the processing of several provinces has already been finalised.

2 200 delegates are expected to attend the party’s National People’s Assembly at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus from Friday.

According to Maotwe, there have been no incidents during the registration process.

“It’s all systems go. It is running very smoothly I see you are also wearing your tag everybody has their tag today we are registering both the delegates and the guests and tomorrow is the opening of the conference at Nasrec, we will be at Nasrec tomorrow registration is going to end today the President and Commander in Chief will also registering be here later today and then we will take him to Nasrec just to see the preparations but so far so good.”
