Iranian officials: Iran to become space hub of region within ten years

Through space exhibitions and gatherings, Iran seeks to connect with global partners and expand co-operation in the sector

Iranian experts aim to achieve self-sufficiency and turn Iran into a major space centre in the region in line with the 10-year strategy for the development of the country’s space industry, Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology Eissa Zarepour.

He emphasised that the country aims to promote its space services globally, especially in the fields of lightweight launch vehicles and compact satellites.

Eissa Zarepour said Iran is capable of producing satellites weighing less than 100kg and the demand for this class of satellites is growing worldwide. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Through space exhibitions and gatherings, the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to connect with global partners and expand cooperation in the sector, he emphasised.

Earlier in March, Zarepour described 1402 as a revolutionary year for the development of the country’s space sector, noting the launch of 6 satellites and putting several satellites into orbit.

He underlined the successful revival of Iran’s space programme after a decade-long lull, highlighting the start of construction of the country’s largest space facility scheduled for next year.
