Iran highlights tourism as one of priority areas for the state’s economic growth
At an international congress dedicated to the development and empowerment of the tourism industry, Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei’s Advisor Ali Agha-Mohammadi emphasised the importance of strengthening Iran’s economic power on the world stage through the strategic growth of the tourism sector.
According to Agha-Mohammadi, a significant part of Iran’s 8 per cent economic growth, outlined in the seventh development plan, should be achieved through a thriving tourism industry. He emphasised the need to prioritise tourism development alongside continued investment in the oil and gas sector.
Recent figures from the Ministry of Tourism show a significant increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Iran, with over six million arrivals recorded last year. This is reported by
Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
With numerous UNESCO-listed heritage sites and diverse attractions, Iran can utilise its tourism potential as a key driver of economic growth in the coming years.
