80 per cent of Iran’s pistachios are grown in the southern province of Kerman

The Deputy Head of the Board of Trustees of Iran Pistachio Association, Jalil Karbakhsh-Ravari, said pistachio exports this year will also be around 120,000 metric tonnes, which is in line with last year’s figures.

Last year, Iran produced 200,000 metric tonnes of pistachios, of which 120,000 tonnes were exported worth about US$1 billion. The rest of the crop was consumed domestically. This is reported by

Karbakhsh-Ravari noted that 80 percent of Iran’s pistachios are grown in the southern province of Kerman and the rest in the regions of Razavi Khorasan, South Khorasan, North Khorasan, Semnan, Yazd, Markazi and Qazvin.

According to statistics, Iran exported pistachios worth US$74.1 million in shell and peeled nuts worth US$31.9 million in the past two months.
