Iran exports the first shipment from the Caspian port to target markets

The opening of the railway will increase the country’s transit capacity for cargo transport

Iran took an essential step in the development of its transport infrastructure by launching the first export cargo from the new Caspian port. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The goods were shipped via a combined sea and railway route to countries along the Caspian Sea coast.

The opening of the Rasht-Caspian railway line will allow Iran to increase its transit capacity for cargo traffic, stated Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash. It is planned that 400,000 metric tonnes of cement from Iran will be exported annually via this route.

The Caspian port, located in the Anzali Trade-Industrial Freezone, Gilan Province, will be a key hub for trade between Iran and other countries in the region.
