Iran develops biodegradable dressing for rapid wound healing

It is predicted that about 500,000 units of the product will be produced annually in the country

The new development, containing biodegradable polymers and nanocurcumin, is designed to accelerate healing, prevent scarring and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The dressing is suitable for the treatment of superficial wounds, first, and second degree burns.

Experts emphasise that thanks to its biodegradable structure, the dressing provides support for the proliferating cells of new tissue, which significantly reduces the likelihood of scarring. The dressing resolves as the wound heals. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The company, which is engaged in the product’s development, says it plans to produce about 500,000 units of the product per year. The novelty is expected to reach the domestic market in the next Iranian calendar year (starts 21 March 2025).
