Iran’s national team has reached the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and booked its place at the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia after beating Turkmenistan 1-0 in Group E. This is reported by

Iranian midfielder Mehdi Ghaedi scored the only goal of the match, scoring in added time of the first half off a pass from forward Mehdi Taremi.

After four rounds played, Iran is in first place in the Group E standings with 10 points. Coach Amir Ghalenoei’s side will face Uzbekistan in the next round, with both teams having 10 points each.
