India’s toy imports fall by 50% due to the authorities’ support for local manufacturers
Exports of such products have increased
India’s government initiatives to support local manufacturers have led to a 50 per cent reduction in toy imports, said Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
He said the country has a National Action Plan for Toys (NAPT) and mandatory quality control orders to prevent an influx of substandard products. This was reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
India’s Ministry of Light Industries is supporting 19 industries under the programme to revive traditional industries. To promote indigenous toys to the masses, the authorities have launched several promotional initiatives and organised fairs.
