Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has urged all states in the country to implement flood prevention recommendations from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). During a high-level meeting in New Delhi, he reviewed the performance of the relevant services and agencies. This is reported by

Amit Shah highlighted the effectiveness of satellite imagery provided by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and various agencies to warn the people of the country about the threat of floods and other calamities.

The minister also directed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Central Water Commission (CWC) to complete the process of re-optimisation of equipment used for disaster forecasting at the earliest. He pointed out the importance of ensuring that the locks of all major dams are in good condition.

Officials of the emergency services and line agencies have reported on their preparedness for the current rainy season.
