The Aditya-L1 spacecraft, India’s first solar mission, has reached a first halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 Lagrange Point, as reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

The mission is crucial to understanding phenomena such as solar heating, solar storms, flares and coronal mass ejections.

India, with its vast array of orbiting satellites, has a particular interest in the results of this study. The orbit of Aditya-L1 spacecraft, located around 1.5 million kilometres from Earth, offers a constant and clear view of the Sun, which is essential for ongoing research.

ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organisation, confirmed that the spacecraft’s strategic position was chosen to maximise the mission’s lifespan to five years, minimising the need for maintenance manoeuvres and fuel consumption.
